Information about MULTITONE STUDIOS Recording Sessions

Multitone recording sessions are run by me, budding music technician and student, Jim Ribi. It is very important to me that music recorded here is of a professional quality; I am more than happy to re-record any tracks that you aren't totally satisfied with for free! Recording sessions are meant to be really informal - we can set a time that suits you and you don't have to get here at the crack of dawn (unless you want to).

Recording and a rough mix is done during the day with the band, mixing and mastering is typically started while the band are still present, but tweaked and finished during the evening and/or the following week without the band. A final mix is then sent to the band for approval. Note: You are only charged for the number of tracks recorded. Mixing and mastering is done for free.

Before You Arrive
In order to achieve quality recordings that closely match the genre of music you feel you most fit into, I ask that all bands send in a few tracks from influential artists so that I can draw comparisons between the two. This greatly helps me produce tracks that you are proud of. In addition to this, if you have already had your music recorded (even if it isn't perfect) it really helps me to hear your song(s) in advance; particularly for tracking drum parts.

In the Studio
Parts are recorded one at a time. For the first hour or so time is spent finding the right sounds (guitar and bass tones that work well for live play may not necessarily work for recording purposes). Depending on the quality of the singer, vocals will often take the longest time to record. To reduce the time it takes to record your song, ensure that ALL musicians know the track inside out and can play it to a high standard.

Things you'll need to bring: instruments and FX units (if you use any). No drums are required - I unfortunately have space and hardware limitations (this is a bedside recording studio after all!) and most of the time a better sound can be achieved through use of the studio's equipment. Also come with a clear idea of what you want to sound like, and bring yourselves with smiles on your faces! Click for further session info on Page 2...
