Meet the MULTITONE STUDIOS Sound Engineer
Hi, I'm Jim, drummer, guitarist, bassist of sorts and occasional keyboard player. I have been passionate about music from a young age and was originally influenced mainly by the rock genres, although my recording experience has exposed me to a much wider variety of musical styles.
After successfully achieving a high grade A and winning the departmental ''Get A Life'' Award (for doing more than my fair share of desk time) at A-level Music Technology, I found myself in studio situations fairly frequently both as an engineer and as a musician with various bands after and during my sixth form/college years. Combining my knowledge of music tech with my original passion for music really helped me to hear the differences in production and formulate my own recording style. Since college, I have steadily been building up the amount of recording equipment and music software that I own in order to start my own studio. Roll on Multitone...
Among my friends are also many musicians most of which are members of their own bands and have at some point or another paid (often up to as much as £800) to have their tunes recorded at full-time studios. It's no wonder that the majority of bands can't afford to have regular singles, EPs and albums recorded! The Multitone ethos is one that promotes music for the sake of music, instead of focusing on financial gain. Because of this, I aim to keep the sessions as affordable as possible. All money gained from the studio is put straight back in to aid in its development.
It is very important to me that artists who record with Multitone come away with a product that they would not be embarrassed to play to friends and critics alike, so if you're not happy with the sound you've achieved in the studio I'll be more than happy to re-record tracks with you for free.
Although the majority of my experience lies with recording bands, as part of my academic studies into the world of music production and through my enjoyment of recording as a hobby I've had the privilege of recording string quartets, composing for orchestra, writing and producing music for film and game sequences, editing tracks for shows, making mixtapes and even writing backing tracks. Having had these opportunities, I have been able to develop my own, rather unique, recording style. As a result, I am open to recording any musical genre.
